It is perhaps difficult to argue what are the most important events, in relationship to narrowing it down to five, for there are likely smaller events that made a great impact on the direction the war took, although they may not be well known. With that in mind the following paper examines 5 of the most important, or most obviously important, events in the Vietnam War. The events examined are the Dien Bien Phu attack, the Geneva Conference, Operation Rolling Thunder, attack on Khe Sanh, and the infamous My Lai Massacre.
