The population in Nottinghamshire is greater than one million and may be thought of as consisting of four distinct areas, which is the City of Nottingham in the south, Mansfield and Ashfield located in the west, and Worksop to the North (2003). Finally, Newark is located in the East (2003). The region boasts a good transportation program as well as good access to both eastern and western districts (2003). One can see that this large area needs a sufficient and competent police force.
While the police force is in relatively good shape, accountability has been problematic. When accountability is discussed in respect to any occupation, most understand the concept.
