...throughout the world, it seems as though acid rain seems the most mobile. Litter generally stays in one place. Water pollution, which spreads, is still confined to lakes and rivers that are within legitimate range of pollution-causing agents. Acid rain, however, isn’t contained within borders – if it is caused in one country from polluting agents, it can impact the environment in a country far away, simply by its very nature. While some global organizations are trying to reduce acid rain through education, the problem still persists.
In order to understand acid rain, it’s important to understand how it is created, as it is an atmospheric condition. The atmosphere itself consists of a thin film of gases that envelopes the planet and helps make it a place where creatures can survive (Environmental Information, 2002). However, when pollutants in the form of gases travel high enough into the atmosphere, they condense and cause acid rain which, over time, can damage forests, lakes rivers, plants, animals – and mankind (Environmental Information, 2002)....
