According to Grant (2001), at a recent conference of Columbia University students, entitled, "Multiple Margins on Common Ground," one of the organizers, Lailan Huen, said, "We are targeting people from all groups." She continued, "We're not trying to prove to people that we are American, asking for validation as citizens, but we do want to offer a chance to explore and discuss what it means to be labeled as Asian Americans."
