Before WWII the bald eagle was not an endangered species and it apparently experienced a good rate of growth and did not suffer unduly by man's interaction with nature. However, "Bald eagles became a threatened/endangered species after World War II because of the increase in use of pesticides and pollution" (Shrub-Steppe Series: What About Bald Eagles, 2005). In addition there was also the condition wherein, following WWII, people began to seriously encroach on the bald eagles' territory building houses and suburbs. The forests in many areas were essentially destroyed for lumber as well as construction....
