Food prices skyrocketed over 100 percent in some cases as the people existed in a constant state of unrest and uncertainty. Often it was, and is, the Chinese who are blamed for this struggle even though they number only 3% of the entire population of Indonesia. It is the Chinese who are the entrepreneurs, the shop-keepers, and the grocers.
