...but still craving an adventure one need look no further than the Cold Springs Tavern just outside of Santa Barbara. Some come for the great old time food. Most come for the scenery and atmosphere. All come for the experience of stepping back in time.
Getting to Cold Springs is part of the adventure. Following westbound along California’s Route 154 in short order one can see the Arch Bridge, erected in the 1960’s gleaming like a gap-toothed grin. This bridge stands high above the canyon below, but it is into the canyon, itself, that the adventurer must go if he/she wants to find the Tavern.
Old Stagecoach Road is the old trail utilized by the stagecoach lines during its heyday. The way down has been widened and the views are spectacular at any time of the year. The tavern, itself, used to be one of the only stops on the San Marcos Pass crossing which ran between Santa Ynez...
