People were amazed at the number of people that this disease took and it was viewed as the worst disaster ever (Benedictow, 2004). Today, AIDS is viewed as a similarly frightening disease, but of course, now, there are drug cocktails and the beginnings of a cure and possible vaccine. When the black death came about it was a time in history where people were rather nave about things. They did not understand the concept of bacteria or viruses or anything of that nature (Benedictow, 2004).
