Indeed, in the early part of the 1900s, not only was there the First World War, but also, there was the advent and promise of communism. People embraced Marxism and saw it as a solution for the problems that plagued man. Of course, the social class divide has been a problem for centuries, but in the latter part of the nineteenth century, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels introduced a plan. This plan was thought to be pure genius by many, but when trying to implement the plan, there were problems. The United States would come to see Marxism as an enemy to freedom and democracy.
