The field of accounting, for example, stands out as a business arena which by its very nature, is one which allows the possibility of many areas of indiscretions (Ward, 1996). There are, however, many more arenas in which ethical code violations are quite common. The extent of these violations is actually determined by the profession itself in many instances. Indeed, not only are ethical codes delineated by many professions, they are enforced both within the profession and outside. There are also very general codes of ethics which exist independent of any particular professions code of ethics. These simple psychological codes include such considerations as honesty, fairness, individual rights. Interestingly, the American Psychological Association itself has also issued a set of ethical codes by which its members are expected to abide. The General Principles of these codes include:
