This concept of learning involves debate which asks questions such as "What is knowledge?," What is learning?," What is teaching?" These are sensible questions and have been answered in many ways throughout history by teachers and philosophers alike. The idea of constructivism is based on the notion that a student constructs their own knowledge, and based on that notion, many efforts are underway to incorporate these ideals into the classroom in a way that enables the child to become constructors of their own knowledge. This is an idea that has been around for some time and is, perhaps, not unlike the curriculum offered at many small private schools across the nation. But it is a reality that has not truly entered into our public school systems.
