Her father died when she was seven, and she went to live in the city with her only living relative, an elderly aunt who kept house for a very wealthy, titled family. The mansion was huge—it had over 40 rooms—and Christine felt like a princess living there. The family had a young son whose name was Raoul, who was ten. At first he disliked having another child in the house, but soon accepted it. Raoul liked to dance too, and it wasn't long before the boy and girl found themselves dancing every evening after school.
Christine lived with her aunt in the mansion for ten years....
