The Commonalities
At first glance, it might not seem that these three works of art have much in common, but they do: they are all studies of people, not landscapes or buildings, and they all convey a much deeper meaning than can be found on the surface.
The first is Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, also known as La Gioconda, after its subject, who was the wife of Francesco del Giocondo (Pioch, 2002). This may be the most famous painting in the world, which makes it difficult to look at it with "fresh eyes"; even people who have no interest whatever in fine art are familiar with the work. However, if we try to look at it as if we've never seen it before, we can perhaps gain a new appreciation for it.
