In examining the early mathematicians, other names come up. Euclid for example lived around 300 BC and Pythagoras in 540 BC (Jones & Bedient, 1988). Others such as Plato and Aristotle lived around 350 BC (Jones & Bedient, 1988). There were additional theorists who were also doing work in the field of mathematics; some of these individuals are Acrhytas, Theaetetus, Theodurus and Eudemus (Jones & Bedient, 1988). Exodus and Menaechmus yet others who lived at the same time as Plato and Aristotle (Jones & Bedient, 1988). In Plato and Aristotle's various texts, they do make reference to early mathematicians but it would be Eudemus who around 350 BC would write about the history of math (Jones & Bedient, 1988). The earliest text on the subject however is called Elements by Euclid (Jones & Bedient, 1988).
