People with intense pain get shots from the hospital, or even anesthesia, to assure that they do not feel anything. Of course, there is not a drug for everything. Burn victims, for example, cannot be adequately treated for their pain. Yet, people take pills just to feel better mentally in the form of antidepressants and sedatives.
