Yet, artists and writers and musicians are often associated with such things as left-handedness, science, alcoholism, dyslexia and a host of other interesting entities that are not definitively tied to art. There is just a sense that these "creative" types belong together and such is the sense that revolution invites art. In a book regarding art in Cuba, Camnitzer (2003)writes: "Functionaries and artists come from a common pool of intellectuals and are, more often than not, bound by friendship" (p.132). One can see this everywhere. The fact that musicians are sometimes a part of revolution is certainly apparent as well. Musicians often rail against the government. There are many political bands to crop up protesting one thing or another. This is often found in the rock genre, a type of music that Cuba does ban.
