...INTRODUCTION As classrooms grow less homogenous and children brought up in the midst of the information age require more creative learning environments to spark their interest, educators have recognized that "old school" ways of teaching are no longer effectively meeting student needs or educational requirements. The common processes of "teach to the test" and textbook information instruction not only have limited appeal, but also have limited benefits. Especially in elementary education, where children set the patterns for their scholastic behaviors, learning programs that are dictated by textbooks and lectures have not been successful in underscoring the learning process necessary to move children to a higher level of educational efficacy. There is a definitive need to focus on the quality of education and the avenues that can be utilized to produce the greatest level of educational successes. Children are not only in school to learn basic skills and information: they are also being taught the fundamental process by which they can learn, a process that must be adapted at each different level of educational development.
