These are to: 1) get a low-wage, long-hours job; 2) learn to speak English; 3) become a U.S. citizen; 4) become Americanized; 5) become more educated. These five steps may not be reflected in the first generation who come to America, in fact, it may take generations for all five steps to be realized.
