One such dilemma involved the Battle of Dunkirk that saw many stranded British soldiers who wanted nothing more than to get home. Many did eventually get to their destinations, but others were not quite so fortunate. In respect to the Battle of Dunkirk, it took place during World War II and is one that was riddled with problems. It was actually a rescue operation and quite dramatic. The British soldiers were stuck on the beach and the water did not provide a way for the men to get out. It seemed as if every way through the land mass was blocked. What ensued was a difficult operation, but it proved to be necessary. The decisions made were seemingly the best that could be made at the time.
In general, Operation Dynamo was a success, but there had been loss of life. This is always unfortunate but often not...
