But Greek history is also intertwined with that of most of Western cultural history. Aristotle and Plato were Grecian. The City States of Greek history are similar to the nation-states of today. Democracy was a Grecian concept as well.
How does this country, which was the root of so many things we take for granted today, operate today? What are some of the cultural values? What about the economy and the political system? We’ll take a look at all of these, and see how they developed out of the history of this very ancient nation, which is now a member of the European Union (EU). The capital of Greece is Athens, and the currency unit of this country is the euro (Matthews, 2004).
