The purpose of this presentation is to provide you with tools to increase your understanding of standards as they apply to the topic of reading proficiency. The primary learning goal is to create a phonics based curriculum to replace the whole language slant that has been adopted. While not throwing out the positive parts of the whole language curriculum, it is possible to introduce a dynamic program related to phonics which will provide the student with appropriate reading skills.
