This will give a student writing on this subject a flavor of what these papers were like in the early days of the nation. In exploring newspapers from 1764, around the time when many of these emerged, for a period of ten or fifteen years, one sees patterns emerge. Yet, in comparing and contrasting papers from the different locales, one can also see regional differences come forth.
