They are called ultraviolet rays, and they are the culprits in changes that happen to the skin, like wrinkles and even cancer. When one wears a sunscreen, those are the rays from which they are protecting themselves. A protective blanket of gases known as the atmosphere surrounds our planet. It provides us with the air we breathe, and it protects us from the full blast of the sun's radiation.
