Where medical records were lacking, the author attempted to estimate the level of health care these women had known previous to their homeless life. Limited to data collection only be self-reporting, however, neither the author nor the reader can be fully persuaded that the research accomplished its intended mission. Sample Data was collected from a sample of 122 homeless women for the purpose of discovering their current health practices. The data was derived from personal interviews with the women, and revealed that, as expected, the homeless women suffered from varying degrees of depression and reduced self-esteem. Design Though personal interviews were conducted by researchers through personal contact with the sample of homeless women, the design of the research was still based on self-reporting, which in itself is only marginally reliable.
