In the time since AIDS has become a visible epidemic, various groups have been targeted and held responsible for being directly involved with the causal factors and spread of this deadly virus. Relevantly, the seriousness of risk to various populations in the United States has been debated and there have been problems in deciding how to effectively educate people about the disease. The articles which I discuss below focus on some of these issues and illustrate the marked differences of opinion about AIDS that exist in our society. In her address to the National Conference on Women and HIV Infection (1990), Dr. Novella makes three important points.
