Perhaps one of the first impressions one would gain in a visit to a courtroom is the aura of importance which seems to permeate the atmosphere. There is little frivolity in a courtroom. Some courtrooms are made even more impressive by the architectural features themselves. The judges bench (or podium) is often the first feature which jumps out at the observer. The there is the jurors area, and the audience seating. The furniture itself imparts a sense of seriousness with dark stained woods and plush fabrics. By far the most important aspect of a courtrooms structure, however, are the people themselves for it is the people that congregate together to determine how transgressions against the law should be handled.
